CIRCUIT COURT

The circuit court is a general jurisdiction trial court hearing domestic, civil, criminal, juvenile, and all jury trial cases. The circuit court also has appellate jurisdiction over the district court and certain administrative agencies.

DISTRICT COURT

The District Court hears landlord/tenant cases, traffic violations, criminal cases classified as misdemeanors and certain felonies, and civil cases in the amount of $30,000 or less. The District Court does not conduct jury trials.
